I'd love to hear your thoughts! My profile's pretty unique and hard to assess against others:
Reason for MBA: I can have successful career in entertainment middle management but I'd like an MBA to buckle down on my hard skills (P&L ownership, debt modeling, audience segmentation etc) beyond my qualitative marketing toolkit to better position myself for the next generation of entertainment brands
Really great work experience!Short term goal:
Industry: stay within entertainment but move closer to the intersection of technology (think Netflix, Spotify, YouTube). I’ve witnessed the massive entertainment industry sea change and want to align myself with a more future proof company
Function: I want to pivot functions from a partnerships role into the more growth driven side in strategy (programming strategy or content distribution e.g. data driven role focused on getting the right shows/music/films out there and targeting the right platforms).
Long term goal: I want to grow into a C-suite role: either Chief Brand Officer, Chief Content Officer or CEO for an emerging media and entertainment platform like Spotify.
Past roles:
-first job post college - worked as an Account Executive at a global advertising agency (on blue chip brands)
-then moved into at a strategy role at a name-brand VC backed NYC Silicon Alley startup (think Warby Parker, Bonobos)
Achievements:
-several industry/company award winning campaigns (one was noted in a Kellogg MBA program case study)
Play that at Kellogg... -listed as an under 30 in media for a notable publication
-guest lectured at top schools (think NYU, Columbia) to both graduate and undergraduate students on advertising and media
-Sit on executive board for trade organization’s multicultural council
- MLT/Forte programs and will be applying through Consortium for applicable schools
Impressive!Extracurriculars:
notable fun college ECs: hosted popular campus radio show, founded first ever students club for my family's country, dance
post college: children's focused volunteer focus - brand consultant for a children’s non profit; autism school volunteering (reading, playing games etc); summer literacy fairs etc
Management/Promotions:
-Managing direct reports for 6 years; first year 1, second year 3, and currently 6
-Launched career at the Account Executive level - skipping over coordinator roles and assistant account executive due to gold plated undergrad internships at Mad Men esque staples
-youngest senior manager in my department/function (promoted at 27 vs. traditional 30+)
Target schools:
Stretch: Stanford (R3), HBS (R3), Wharton (R3) - I know this sounds crazy but if anyone can do it I'm hoping it's a 710+ GMAT (would be one of only 150 or so top scoring african-american candidates in a yearly cycle - including international, part time/exec, gmat instructors etc) AA female non-finance/consulting background can since I can help round out the class.
Match: Stern (R2 consortium), Anderson (R2 consortium), Columbia (December Rolling), Ross (R2 consortium)
I hate that we are having this conversation for R3.. you are too good to present in R3...if you don't get what you seek in R2 this year... please consider just taking the spring to nail the GMAT and then you can be a rock star in R1 next year... you may be a rock star in R2 this year... but if not- or you don't get a full scholarship... which I think you might be able to do... then do consider R1 next year!
I like you already from just reading this... would love to work with you to tell your story... if you end up not getting all you want this year- be strong and know that with the right combination and applying in the right round... I see upside for you all day long! Here's how to learn more about us:

And best wishes to you regardless in the R2. But remember you have a lot to offer so only say yes this year if you get what you really want... because I also think presenting next year R1 you could be even stronger and there is more $$ to be had earlier in the process!
Sincere best wishes and good luck no matter what- I love your combination of work and I am curious to hear your story...
Other: I'm a very strong writer (I actually write both prose and poetry in my spare time) and have a very poignant personal story that current students have said will be a game changer.
