Profile Evaluation Please [#permalink] New post 18 May 2012, 01:17
Hi there!

I would be very grateful if you can evaluate my profile and provide your opinion on what schools I should target.

WE: 3 years as Subcontract Specialist in the Aerospace and Defense industry. I coordinate with material planning, engineering, quality, and finance groups to ensure that materials and services are provided on a timely manner to support production. Negotiate pricing, create and analyze proposals. At the facility I work at were currently working on a project to manufacture, assemble and integrate operations for the Delta and Atlas, which are launch systems for NASA and the Department of Defense.

GMAT: 720

Undergrad: 3.5 GPA Business Administration, Nonrank school

Nationality: Hispanic-American

EC: I do grant writing for an agricultural non-profit. In addition, I use my business background to help provide knowledge for their business model to turn crops into a business. For example, a low income family can grow products and then turn it into salsa to then turn it over to sell for a profit. Also, I participate in other charity events, but mostly as a member: Cancer for relay, heart association, etc.

Post MBA: I want to pursue a MBA in Non-Profit (Social Entrepreneurship/Enterprise) so that I can start up my own Non-Profit or work in a managerial role full time. There are always positions up for hire, but many require some type of master or MBA degree. By going for my MBA this would no longer be an obstacle.

Target Schools: Yale

Questions:

1. What other schools should I target besides Yale?
2. Any other information that could help make my profile stronger?

Thank you for your assistance in taking the time to read my profile it is highly appreciated!

At this point, all you can and should do is focus on doing the best you can on the applications. You have solid work experience and interesting things going on outside of work, so it's a matter of figuring out how to mix both of that into your essays (and as you know there's no science to this - it's totally subjective the choices you make in terms of essay material).

As for schools, take a look at www.beyondgreypinstripes.org which will allow you to research the schools that best fit what you want to do within non-profit (which is a very broad term and category as you know).
