Hello all,
I'll just lay out my stats and then synopsis of my perceived narrative that will address my shortcomings, which are many.
* 37 at matriculation
* CPT, US Army, Field Artillery, a Combat Arms Branch. Will be attending immediately following Battery Command (equivalent to Company Command)
* 2.89 undergraduate GPA, Psychology, University of Arkansas, Little Rock. Last 60 hours 3.4+, while working 50+ hrs/wk and additional responsibilities to ROTC
* 4.0 graduate GPA, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. MS in Operations Management (in progress, will be complete during R1 admissions season, possibly sooner)
* Target Score of 720 on GMAT, possibly higher (This is an assumption, based upon initial practice tests)
* Strong commitment to Volunteerism. Nominated for Post Volunteer Family of the Year 2014. Initiating a Volunteer Initiative within Battery FRG to support local Veteran's Nursing Home.
* Sponsored Education, will not separate from the Army and continue to receive full pay and benefits. Will return to normal Active Army service upon completion of MBA.
My initial collegiate experience was a Private Liberal Arts College where I squandered a full tuition/room n board scholarship. I began attending the local state university upon return to my home town. In addition, I began my family, which I dearly love, a little early. By the age of 24 I was a father of two with a third on the way and a 2.2 GPA. I had to change something, so I enlisted in the Army National Guard. Upon Completion of Basic Combat Training, I returned and completed +/- 69 hours in three semesters and a summer term. My GPA during this phase was 3.4. During this phase I worked in excess of 50 hours weekly and had an additional 10 hours of responsibilities to ROTC. I have always been the sole income for the family.
I have had a successful career as a Field Artillery Officer, enumerated highly multiple times, to include #1 of all Lieutenants. I am now preparing to take Command of a 200 Soldier Headquarters Battery with $100 million worth of accountable property. This will be the highlight of my military experience and the strongest point of leadership for my applications.
So with all of that said, what are my target schools? I look to focus on General Management, Organizational Leadership, and Marketing. I will not be allowed to take a paid internship, due it conflicting with the Army's expectations of my experience. In addition, I am looking to identify Stretch, Competitive, and Safer schools. I have some in my head, but I want to leave those out so that I can get some candid feedback. Thank you for taking the time to read this and providing your feedback!
