Demographics: Indian/ IT (non-programming) /29/male
Academics: B.Tech (Mechanical engineering); Score = 65%
GMAT: Yet to appear for the test
Work experience: 8 years experience as a Technical Writer. My primary responsibility is to prepare product documentation such as User Guides, configuration Guides, Online Help, etc. I have also contributed towards market study and competition analysis. I have worked with well known networking and telecommunication equipment vendors in India, China, South Korea, Singapore. Key highlights of my career are: international work experience (including 2.5 yrs in China), significant domain and market knowledge in telecommunications & networking, and understanding of China's economy, markets and business practices.
However, I am worried that my application may end up being "me-too", because:
* I have not participated in any extra-curricular/leadership activities either during college days or during my professional life.
* I have never volunteered for any cause, other than helping few poor students financially at a personal level.
* I have changed too many jobs (1 job/year)
* My job itself is more of a "peripheral job" and so not much opportunities achieve greater things
* Since I changed jobs frequently, I am not able to get a leadership role; I am continuing to work as an individual contributor even after 8 yrs. exp.
* Again, due to frequent job hopping, I haven't got any Appreciation Letters, or Achievement Awards, etc in my career.
* Age factor (29 yrs.)
So, this being the scenario, is it worthwhile for me to consider MBA? Will I have any chance of getting into mid-tier schools in Asia/Europe?
Please help.
Thanks,
