Greetings,

I’m looking to start an MBA in 2014. Any ideas which programs I have a shot at?

Target Schools:
- HBS, Stanford, Booth, Wharton, Columbia

Here are the key details of my profile:

Canadian/Caucasian Male, 25
Education: Undergraduate from a top business school in Canada
GPA 3.6
GMAT 720 (94%), Q45 (68%) V44 (97%), AWA 6 (90%), IR 8 (92%)
Work Experience:
- 2 years at a no-name asset management firm in buy-side equity research
- 1 year at PricewaterhouseCoopers in audit (co-op term)
Extracurricular:
- Good at University (club presidency, other charity work)
- Great after University (board of directors of a charity helping kids with learning disabilities, scout leader, other stuff)
Other Stuff:
- Diagnosed with the learning disability, Dyslexia
- Legacy Status at HBS (brother went there)

Career Goals: Hedge Funds or Venture Capital with high-tech industry focus

Thank you very much for your advice.

Cheers,

Hi,

Thanks for writing here

Your GMAT is very much in range of the schools targeting.

Areas of Improvement / Highlight

Your extra curricular -- You must highlight your involvement into extra curricular activities to paint a holistic picture of your profile. Pls ensure that you highlight some leadership examples in your essays. Top B-Schools seek some leadership experience and i don't think your work profile has much to talk in terms of structured leadership examples

These top schools receive hundreds of applications from the area of structured finance that you are a part of, so you must be able highlight some unique lessons that you have learnt. Prove that you are BETTER than the other guy with same profile

Express and prove your uniqueness in your essays, you have enough time to enhance your skills

Hope this helps

Good luck

Hi,

With the given information, the shortlisted b-schools should be within your reach. You must skillfully write your application essays and showcase headship qualities, achievements at work place and other aptitudes during final interviews. You can also try your chances in b-schools by clicking http://www.general-ed.com/chances-of-bschool

Feel free to post any other concerns you might have.
