ISBtarget,

Your profile is a strong one, even a very strong one, however, I would say it's not *distinctive* (unusual) enough for Stanford, though by all means apply there as a longshot. I believe you will be competitive at ISB and HEC Paris semi-competitive at Tuck (depending on how well you convince them that you know and appreciate Tuck's distinctiveness well). You should be optimistic about Nanyang. Given your goals, you should also consider the following schools: Kellogg, Michigan, MIT, and Duke.

Good luck,

Thanks for your help. Quick question on how to refine my essays to project my uniqueness, i believe my interest, involvement and contribution towards NGOs and my future goal of helping NGOs/bridging Corporates' social needs and NGO financial needs, intellectual needs etc are unique (i may be wrong). I totally acknowledge that I am from an ocean of B schools applicant pool being an indian male, but how do i properly showcase my distinctness in my essays.

Do i need to involve any professionals, Do you have any suggestions on involving professionals and whether that would strength my application for Stanford. I am so determined to get into Stanford

ISBtarget,

Unfortunately, social impact and social entrepreneurship goals have become extremely common in the past few years, at least as common as private equity/finance goals, so alas your goals will probably not help you stand out unless you really tweak them to find a niche that no one else is mining. A consultant could help you there. Refining your essays to highlight your uniqueness is a complicated process and usually something best done on a one-to-one basis over time (rather than through a forum like this). I am a professional consultant so naturally I believe that I can help people make themselves stand out. But some people are naturally more distinctive than others and not everyone can get into Stanford. My sense is that your profile is not unusual enough for you to have a chance at Stanford, but there are plenty of other excellent programs.

Good luck,
