Hi Alex,
Thanks for all the insights that you have been providing at this forum. They have been truly very enriching.
I am a Chartered Accountant working in Equity Research Division of a stock broking firm . I have worked in the audit division of Big 4 audit firm for over 5 years (including 3 years internship). My total work experience including internship works out to almost 6 yrs with the last one year being in equity research.
I am planning to do a MBA since I want to advance my career in Equity research. I have a deep passion for stock market and hence would like to focus on a career in this field. I am also pursuing my CFA (expecting Level I results shortly which I expect to clear). Have also been a rank holder in Chartered Accountancy exams.
My Details are follows:
GPA: 4/5
My role at my audit firm involved planning, co-ordination and management of assignments. The work included execution of various types of audit assignments which required team management, expert knowledge on various subjects like Company law, Income tax, Accounting and auditing pronouncements and various other related statutes and extensive coordination and interaction with clients. Clients included various listed, public and private companies.
Expected to take GMAT next month : 700 (assumption).
Primary interests are Equity research, Investment banking etc.
I want to do an MBA from an institute which is reputed in finance. I would like to keep the option of coming back to Indian markets say after 3-5 yrs of work abroad and so would prefer an MBA which has a decent alumni network in India.
Based on above info do you think that I would stand a chance in schools like LBS, Wharton, Columbia, Stanford or ISB? If not what would I need to do in order to improve my chances of getting an admit. ISB is a very attractive option but I would like to give a shot at ivy league school if possible. Would be grateful if you could suggest suitable schools.
Thanks in advance….
Keerthi
