Hi there! Thanks so much for this amazing resource!
I'm in the preliminary stages of MBA application prep (would shoot for class of 2017) - in fact, still weighing the age-old question of whether or not an MBA is worth the cost. One thing I've been thinking lately is that if in fact a fully-paid MBA is not economically worthwhile, maybe if I could earn a scholarship, that would change the story.
I was hoping you could give me your perspective on a) chances of admission to some of the top schools, and b) chances of full or partial (but significant) scholarships or fellowships to any of them.
For argument's sake, let's say I'm considering the following schools: HBS, GSB, Wharton, Kellogg, Booth, Sloan, Columbia, Haas, Tuck, Yale, Stern, Fuqua, Ross, Darden, Anderson
Thanks again, and please let me know if any additional info would be helpful! Any general suggestions on improving the profile would be welcome as well!
26 years old in Fall 2014
GMAT: 770 (51Q/44W/5.5AWA)
Undergrad: USNWR Top 40 school on the East Coast, Economics major, Business minor, 3.8 GPA, 3.9 major GPA, National Merit Scholarship
Assumed WE as of Fall 2014:
9 months in finance rotational program at Fortune 20 financial firm
15 months M&A investment banking at middle-market investment bank, tech industry group
24 months corporate strategy & development at a mid-sized tech company (not really a household name)
Several leadership roles (including VP) with active and large student organization as an undergrad
Involvement with alumni admissions group from alma mater (conduct off-campus interviews, attend college fairs)
NOTE: My genuine impression is that my EC is not very strong - this could be a weak point, I'd love to hear otherwise though!
Most likely goals post-MBA:
a) Leadership/rotational program at a leading tech company (or potentially other industries as well)
b) Supply chain/operations role at a leading tech company (or potentially other industries as well)
c) Role at a top management consulting firm
