Here's my profile...
Nationality: Filipino (residing in the Philippines)
Age: turning 24 this November
School: One of the Top 3 schools in Philippines
Course: Bachelor's Degree in Finance
GPA: Our school also follow a 4.0 GPA scale but the percentages are not the same. I got 2.33/4.0 which is around 83% but in mba.com that will be around 3.3/4.0. I don't have any failing marks and been in the Dean's List only for 1 term. I'm quite concerned about how they will look at my GPA...
Extracurriculars: Participated in several college organizations but not really that active. I became an AVP-Finance for a non finance related organization during my second year. That is the only position that I held since I did not renew my membership the following year.
Work Experience: 3 years in the BPO industry. Our client is a financial services company in the U.S and I do have S6 and S63 licenses (something that is not usually offered here in the Phil). I'm pretty knowledgeable with mutual funds, certificates and brokerage products. I've worked with mutual fund service, estate settlements and currently doing case manager stuff for ownership changes. I've been promoted 4 times to an officer level position since I started working but I'm not yet a Team Leader. Main reason for this is because there are no demands for such positions in our program. I can either transfer to a different program (different field) or wait for an opening since I'm one of those being trained to be next in line (but of course I have to compete with other high level agents). I've been a committee head for several projects to improve our program's performance.
GMAT: Planning to take it next year probably mid-March. Currently doing the best I can to prepare for it. I'm not sure what the least score I should get to be admitted to a good business school.
Plans for Grad School:I'm not yet sure where I should apply, but I definitely want to try my luck in U.S and Europe Grad schools for possible scholarships.
If I can't get a scholarship, I'll just work part time and finance my study. I'm not actually vying for the Top 10 or 20 schools. I want to be admitted to a respectable university with a good finance program.I hope you can give me advice on what schools I should apply to or at least those that I may have a good chance of getting in.
Plans after Grad School: I want to return to Philippines and work for a company where I can use my learnings. I would like to at least help improve our country's financial industry.
