How long ago did you apply to those programs: last year or more than that?
When you say that the Tuck counselor said your essays and resume “were of no concern to the adcom,” what did she mean? If she also said she’d like to see a major improvement, that would seem contradictory, right? Am I missing something? Did you receive any other feedback from other programs?
As you know with reapplications, the key is always what have you done and how much have you grown since you last applied. What new experiences can you discuss? How have you evolved as a leader? The onus is on you to demonstrate to the admissions committees that you are a markedly stronger candidate than the last time you applied.
With regard to work experience, focus on how you have truly led: “moments” when you influenced individuals and organizations, drove results, took initiative.
In terms of extracurriculars, can you use those to also showcase your leadership skills? It’s not as important that you excelled at sports; I’d rather hear about the teamwork and leadership aspects of those activities. And, your university activities are too far in the past to use in essays, most likely.
