Hi,

This is Abhishek, I am an Indian - IT male, with a GMAT score of 700 and Work Ex of 24 months ( will be 30 months by the time of application). I am aiming for the 2014 intake.

I have pretty decent accads, I have done my Enigneering (Computer Science) from Vellore Institute of Technology ( amoung the top 10 Engineering Colleges in India). I have a GPA of 8.27. In college I took an active part in the vit quiz club and won several compititions.

Work EX:
Working with Cognizant since 24 months
Working as a Free Lancer at ATV(a local news channel) - at ATV I do web site development, program direction and also manage pragram teams
Community Service:
I take regular part in the Cognizant Outreach Programs
Also I am a part of a Local NGO and have been working in it since 2 years.

Achievements:
I have designed a web portal (prototype) for politicians called the Political network, and have presented it to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

I am interested in MBA Information Management, as this is my field. My short term goals are to be able to understand the industry better and be able to participate on the business aspect of this industry and I have identified that I have raw managerial skills and these skills need to be polished and an MBA form a top school can help me do that.
In the long term I look to start my own technology company after getting enough insight and experience in the industry. When a business opportunity presents itself, I want to be ready in every way possible and grab it with both hands.

My target schools:
Warwick (UK)

Nanyang (Singapore)

Brigham Young University: Marriott

Georgia Institute of Technology
Texas A&M: Mays

Please let me know what are my chances of getting in these schools.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Abhishek,
Congratulations for getting such a high GMAT score. I must say your profile is really impressive. But, to exactly comment on your chances of getting in the mentioned B-School, we will need more information.
Your strong academic performance and high score would help you for your target B-School. Admission committee look for candidates who have demonstrated leadership ability, multi-tasking ability and who have achieved results.
You have taken several initiatives but try to explain the results that you achieved. What is it that you achieved in the Cognizant outreach program or during the two years of NGO association? What was the impact of the website developed by you for the politicians and ATV? Take time to introspect and find situations in your life where you worked as team lead or took initiatives.
These are essential to write a good application essay.

Best of Luck!

Hi Abhishek,

The list of b-schools should be within your reach. Your short and lon term goals are very clear and in sync with each other. You must be ready to answer the adcoms on headship skills, achievements in or outside workplace & other aptitudes. If you are able to skilfully write application essyas and work hard on interviews, then you would have fair chances of admission in top b-schools.

Let me know if you require any assistance in slection of b-schools. You may PM you details to have a discussion in length.

Regards
Erina
