Profile Evaluation Request [#permalink] New post 25 Sep 2013, 23:51
Hello kindly review my profile and advise :-D

I am a 24 year old MBBS graduate 66% - (top 10% of class) looking to do MBA from a good university. I gave GMAT on 23/9/2013 and scored 720 (q49v39). I did one year of compulsory internship (which is counted as work experience) and after that since past 6 months have been working as an executive in an educational institutional company associated with alternate systems of medicine (nursing, homeopathy, physiotherapy) and technology (engineering, polytechnic) which are all recognized by the respective state governments. The company employs more than 500 people and has more than 2000 students. By the time i go for mba (fall 2014), i will have approximately 2.5 yrs of combined experience. Apart from that during my med school, i worked part time.

I have a good sports and extracurricular background. Played field hockey in the national school level in under-19 age group where our team secured fourth spot. Captained the football team that played zonals and stoop runners-up. I was also given the award of school colour for best hockey player in the school. During school i was also an avid long distance runner and have various medals of cross country race and 3000, 1500 meter races. I was the secretary of commerce club in school. In college was in the organizing committees for various college fests. During college started doing a lot of voluntary work and became executive member of an NGO dealing with voluntary blood donation. I was in organizing committee of multiple blood donation rallies with each rally consisting of more than 3000-4000 people. I have also conducted more than 20 blood donation camps in my hometown. Currently i am also the editor of a monthly newsletter - medic news times with more than 10,000 circulation. I am a part of a program that conducts free epilepsy clinic on second Tuesday of every month.

I am looking for MBA in general management with add on concentration in healthcare management. I have currently shortlisted Stanford Business School, Harvard Business School, Kellogg Business school, Duke Fuqua, Oxford Said, INSEAD, UCLA and Columbia. What are my realistic chances in these universities and any particular advise as to improve upon those chances ?

Thank u so much

You're welcome. The best think you can do to improve your profile is work for an additional year full time before applying and have impact and increasing responsibilities at work.

Currently, HBS, Kellogg, and INSEAD are stretch programs. You have a better chance at the other programs on your list. You may also want to consider Haas and Wharton, which hae a Healthcare Management Programs.

Best,
Linda
