Profile evaluation request [#permalink] New post 06 Feb 2014, 12:57
Hello Dear :P

It would be of great help if you could give some advice on my profile and help me decide if I stand any chance?, Anywhere? I don't have any list of institutes as of now though I cannot deny the fact that my heart skips a beat for the drams like LBS, Harvard and Stanford.

A brief introduction as follows: 31, male, Indian, Gmat 710 , 6+yrs exp. Target MBA US or EU(France, Germany), Current profile: Entrepreneur

I started career with family business in exports, for a year. After that I worked with a small consultancy as a HR recruiter for 9 months in order to learn this business and then I started my own consultancy(LLP) that offered recruitment services for IT, ITES and Finance firms, here I also offered interview services for small firms that do not have dedicated technical and HR interviewer. My staff size: 10 ,

I left it in order to pursue a course in social science at one of the premier institute but I did not like their teaching ways and I dropped out, it's been 4 months since.

Education:
B. Tech. computer, grad. yr. 2005 (state university) 62%, 10th and 12th also from state unvi. with 62% and 65% respectively.
Diploma in Embedded system design and engineering, form CDAC- ACTS pune - grade B. (6 month duration)

Planning to do a certification in corporate social responsibilities or to have a certification in a language - German or Spanish, not decided yet.

Extra-curricular activities:
volunteer -NGO for education Maths and science to secondary grade students.
I am also writing a novel (history-fictional), almost half is completed, can share a couple of chapters form it.
Member in entrepreneurial and start-up community

Post MBA aim: 2-3yr work in corporate and will start some business afterwards

That's it ! Kindly don't forget to point out if I could do anything to improve my profile.

Thank you!

Hello there good sir,
Thanks for dropping by. So first of all what you have here sounds interesting. I understand that you are still running your business now right? Like you didn't stop it to go pursue your studies?

I think you have a pretty gooooood profile, although I think HBS and Stanford remain solidly "dream schools". On the one hand your entrepreneurial experience seems to me to be very good, but on the other, your so-so grades, being on the older side, and being an Indian candidate all make things a bit tougher. So I'd say probably Top 25 outside of the Top 10 is more your range, but that you should still apply to a few select Top 10 programs (becuase you still have a shot and with a fantastic app, who knows?)

Hope this helps!

Best,
JF
