Hello Experts,
Please evaluate my profile and also help me answer some of the queries below. Any feedback is welcome.
1) Profile Evaluation request:
Education:
Bachelor in Technology from NIT Allahabad, India (Electronics and Communication Engineering)
CGPA - 7.8/10
Academic Achievements - Nothing to boast about
Work Experience:
~4 years by July 2015
Started working with a fast growing boutique Consulting firm (US Based) in the Operations Consulting function. I also got to work on some targeting, segmentation, sales analytics and sales force effectiveness projects. One promotion. Have worked on projects from the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry for US and Asia Pacific areas. I seem to have a professional ADD where I do not like to stick to one type of work for long. One reason why operations sometimes becomes monotonous for me.
International Experience:
Have worked on a daily basis with the US team and the client for 2 years. Unfortunately my VISA got rejected and could not travel to US. Post that I joined an Asia Pacific project and hoping to travel to many south-east Asian countries soon.
GMAT and Application: 750
Not sure if I should apply for R2 or wait for R1 next year
Extra-curricular:
I have a creative bent of mind since childhood and very diverse set of extra-curriculars since I like variety. Won numerous awards for Drawing, short-film making, advertising, B-Plan events etc. during school college and at work. Was the head of design team at college and also the organizing secretary for the college events team. Additionally, I have been associate with an avate garde firm founded by my sister since its inception. The firm specializes in copyrighting, branding and marketing. I started out with creative roles such as design consultant and later on moved to digital marketing. All this work is part-time.
Post-MBA goal:
Long term goal is to get into Marketing/Brand management. Not sure what is the right fit between Marketing/General Management/Marketing and Strategy Consulting
Target schools:
My current list (Can change)
Kellogg - Best marketing school. Seems most appealing to me but also seems out of reach.
UCLA - Location and variety of industires
Duke - Healthcare specialisation (I have been exposed to that industry)
Ross - Focus on innovation
1) If I am not fit for my current dream school like Kellogg, what should I do in this one year to become eligible by next year R1?
2) I want to understand which schools may be good fit for an applicant with my background/work exp/aspirations? What are the top ranked schools I can consider within reach?
3) Given my background and work experience, what should be easier to justify: a marketing role post-MBA, a General Management role, or a Consulting role? I am open to all three. If Consulting is the way to go, what kind of consulting? (My ultimate goal is to do something which has a creative aspect to it)
4) Any advice on which industry should I target post-MBA, since I have not decided yet?
5) Should I apply this year in R2? or wait for next year R1?
