[quote="sophistikate"]Hi,
sophistikate, So congratulations! You are learning a valuable lesson about always leaving doors open- Yes- in 5 yrs what happened now will be less important. But if I was looking at your profile from adcom, I'd love to see a great rec from "corporate America" and then hear the great entrepreneurship story and recommendation letter. So by your own admission, you had at least a small role to play in not having that turn out that way.
Is all lost? No. It never is. We learn and we move on and make better choices next time. So do it differently next time- if you are not happy at a job- start earlier to navigate the system internally, find allies, find ways to make it better. Being able to do that is a skill. But you are not alone in not liking your first job or even having this experience and what matters far more now is what you do NEXT. So be successful in your new endeavor, find champions and look for another place where you can get that "stamp" from the corporate side- whether it is from a client rec etc so that schools see you do know how to navigate with the large MNC's that typically recruit on the MBA level. We at StratusPrep.com do offer a profile development package where we help people make good choices along the way prior to the application so that when you are applying you have really covered all the bases. Think about that... and regardless- get to work building something meaningful and learn and have some great examples of why an MBA can help you going forward! Best of luck to you!
