Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out! Our firm focuses on the top MBA programs in North America and Europe so we really don’t have much experience with ISB. But I can share a few thoughts based on the other schools on your list – which make a lot of sense, by the way, given your career focus. So nice job with your research!
First of all, your start-up experience is definitely unique and will help set you apart from other similar applicants with technical backgrounds. I would encourage you to share your learnings and insights from this experience in your application to provide a glimpse into the insights your whole class could benefit from learning.
Your ECs are interesting and again, definitely unique. I would love to better understand how your involvement with the water conservation NGO ties back to your values and possibly your goals.
I would definitely encourage you develop a more concrete vision for your career long-term. What kind of company would you like to found? Why? What will it accomplish? And of course, how will you short-term goal help prepare you for it? The key to a successful application is tying all of these elements (past experience+future goals+MBA) together into one cohesive story. That will have just as much weight on your competitiveness to any of the schools you list than your stats and scores. (With that said, if you can get your quant score up on the GMAT, that would go a long ways at your target schools.)
Your recommenders sound good! It’s always best to have a supervisor or former supervisor write at least one of your letters if possible.
Best of luck with your applications!
Best,
Melody
