You have a pretty decent chance but as varunajmani2110 mentioned above, just try differentiating yourself from others. Another important thing to keep in mind is that Katz have case based interviews especially for the IT steam. So, prepare yourself for that.

I had an admit from Katz with decent $, but I didn't join. From my experience, I can say that the school isn't that sensitive about GMAT, but if you cannot do well on the interview, I reckon they might put you on WL or directly reject. Last year, I have seen 2 700s being rejected because they just could not put themselves at best in interview.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.

1. Can you please explain a bit of the case based interview with some examples.

2. Also if I do fine in the interview how much scholarships can I expect (Any vague idea).

3. Also can you tell what was your profile and how much scholarship did you get and which school did you finally join

GMAT score is absolutely fine in your case, but since you have 2.5 yrs of experience, you'll have to build your story pretty strong.
Try to focus on your skills that differentiate you from others, and why do you really want to get your MBA.

To your other Q, MBA-MIS dual degree at Kaz is one of the best options in it's league. You'll have a little more to do than your peer MBA group though.

Thanks For your reply. Can you shed some more light on what exactly is Katz adcom looking for when evaluating the profile apart from GMAT. What kind of uniqueness are they looking for.

Also do you have any idea on Post MBA placements from Katz.

I'm studying at Katz right now, and I can tell you that like every other school, they'll look at your strengths, leadership experience, your post MBA goals, and communication.
Your essays and recos should complement your resume. Focus on your leadership experiences, and other experiences where you've actually made a difference.
At the end, you need to present well, and be authentic.
I'll be more than happy to discuss further on application if you want to.
PM me.

Thanks for the reply.

1. Can you please explain a bit of the case based interview with some examples.
Please check last year thread. Katz - Calling Class of 2018. To give you a brief - The interviewer will give you a situation or a problem case and will ask you as to how will you handle the case and solve that problem!

2. Also if I do fine in the interview how much scholarships can I expect (Any vague idea).
This is quite tough to answer. It depends on a lot of factors, mostly your GMAT, GPA, and how different you are from the other students that apply at Katz!

3. Also can you tell what was your profile and how much scholarship did you get and which school did you finally join
We can take this in PM.

Re: prospects of admission in Katz [#permalink]
HI this is an idiotic question after so much time has elapsed since I submitted my form but it seems I got a bit confused between rules of different schools. Can any one tell me whether I need to get official scores reported from gmac and TOEFL before admission decision or they are to be submitted after a decision has been made. Any help will be much appreciated.

It may vary for a few schools, but for most of them, you need to submit the score from GMAC's and IBT's official site before the application deadline.
You may submit the hard copy of your transcripts later.

There's no harm in giving a shot, but to be honest, your GMAT score might be a hurdle for the admission at Katz.
You may want to take the exam again, and apply in the next round.
