Hello,

Thanks in advance for your evaluation, and the work that you do here.

GMAT: 700 (90%) (Q: 43 (64%), V: 42 (95%), AWA: 6.0 (91%))
I plan to retake the GMAT to score better on the quantitative section and cumulatively. This lower than desired quant score can be mitigated by high grades in four levels of calculus, statistics, and economics in college.

Education
- UG GPA: 3.2
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering
both degrees obtained at very well-regarded Public school

Work Experience
3 years at a small medical device company
- Experience ranged from technical engineering work, project management, clinical site support, marketing
1.5 years at two biopharmaceutical companies
- Purely technical roles in process engineering

Post-MBA Goal
I transition from engineering to technical marketing within the health care industry. I am specifically interested in product management. I will be able to tell a clear story in my essays that link my education and work experience to this post-MBA goal.

Extracurriculars
- Tutored 5th graders in math in 2009-2010
- Freelance graphic design / branding work for several small websites and a restaurant
- Organized and served as captain of several intramural sports teams over the past 10 years.
- Avid oil painter
- Created a television show concept that has recently generated interest from a well-connected individual
- Learning Spanish with intent of fluency through software and night classes
- Learning equity trading through reading and webinars
- Extension travel to Ireland, Holland, Belgium, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia, Canada, and Mexico.

Round 1 or Early Action - Fuqua (EA), Ross, and Kellogg
Round 2 (if necessary) - Tepper, Darden, Anderson, Marshall

I am strongly attracted to Fuqua and Kellogg's strong combination of health care and marketing concentrations. Do you think I have a decent shot at my Round 1 schools? I realize Kellogg is a stretch.

Thanks again!

Your professional experience is coming across as very technical and not very managerial or interpersonal. Take some time to jot down examples of situations in which your interpersonal skills - and not just your chemical engineering abilities - were the keys to your success, then use these stories in your essays.
I am afraid that until you boost the Quant score, then the programs you've listed here (with the possible exception of Marshall) are going to be concerned that you do not have the quantitative abilities to perform in the program. I understand that you performed well in these quant subjects in school, so that may be enough to prove your ability in the classroom in these programs, but you may want to gamble on a few of the programs by applying with the lower score and leave others for round 2. If you boost your score after applying to those round 1 programs, you can submit the new score, but there is no guarantee they will consider it - that's why I suggest keeping some of your choices around for round 2.

Thanks for the honest feedback, Jennifer. I am scheduled to retake the GMAT on September 10th. Assuming a better quant score, I will apply to Fuqua, Ross, and Kellogg in the 1st Round. While telling my "story" I will take extra care to not appear one-dimensional. Thanks again.
