Hello Everybody!
My first post here though I have been following gmatclub very closely for the past 5 months.
I would request a profile evaluation. Key highlights of my profile are as below :
Pool : Indian Male
GMAT – 760 (Q50,V42,IR-8, AWA – awaited)
Academics :
1. Bachelors of Science (Hons) in Geology from University of Delhi (One of the best colleges for science courses in India - Hans Raj College)
2. PGDM (Finance) - 2 years Full time - K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (consistently ranked among Top 20 B-schools in India)
3. Cleared Level 1 of the CFA Program
GPA/Percentage : B.Sc (Hons) – 72.7% - Top 10% in the University in my course, PGDM – 69%
Work Experience – 4+ years at Matriculation (Spring 2015)
Senior Manager at Marsh India Insurance Brokers – a subsidiary of Marsh and McLennan Companies (a Fortune 200 Company).
1. Relationship management position accountable for soliciting business accounts and developing strategic alliances with large Indian multinational clientele , regular interactions with top management of my clients. Solely responsible for managing ~USD 400,000 of business. Also sole representative of my practice in North India
2. Have been promoted continuously for 3 years in a row
Extracurriculars
1. Participation in Inter – college events during my PGDM – finalist in a very prestigious M&A banking competition
2. Was selected for a summer project at the prestigious National Institute of Oceanography, Goa
3. Founder Member and Joint Secretary of Prithvi – The Earth Sciences Community, University of Delhi.
4. Department of Geology Coordinator for Global Climate Campaign (University of Delhi, 2006-08)
5. Avid Guitarist and member of College and Business School Bands
6. Fitness enthusiast and ex-member of Hans Raj College’s Cross Country Racing Team
My only concern here is that I do not have certificates for a few of these extracurriculars.
Volunteer/Community work –
• Minimal , was a member of my college’s social cell and undertook a few activities on their behalf, but have no documentation to support this.
• I also conducted 3-4 classes on physical training at an orphanage for teenage boys, but this was 3 years ago and I again have no documentation for this
• I am planning to do volunteer work with an NGO aimed at spreading education in rural remote areas.
Target and Challenges
1. Target Schools – INSEAD,LBS,Kellogg,ISB,IMD and any of the other top 10 One Year MBA Programs
2. One major challenge which I feel may hamper my admission chances is that I already have an MBA equivalent degree. However, my aim at going for another MBA program is
a. To change my industry – I aim at getting into Strategy Consulting or General Management (in Leadership Programs)
b. To get international exposure
c. To boost my career growth by associating with a reputed school that is well-known for grooming students for top management roles
What would be my chances of getting into a B-school of my choice (and a scholarship). Also, what other schools should I apply to keeping in mind my profile and GMAT score.
I thank you in advance for taking the time out to evaluate my chances.
