Hi all senior folks,
I am a Chinese guy obtaining the first honor degree (GPA=3.64) in the programme of accounting and finance in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. After graduation, I have spent more than 2 years in PwC HK as a senior associate in audit division and I am mainly responsible for serving multinational corporations like hutchison whampoa. After that I have spent about one year in a local investment bank in which I am mainly responsible for some small scale M&A, IPO deals in Asian market. I have scored GMAT of 730. My target Us are in the ranking between 6 and 15 such as wharton, NYU, Columbia, Darden, Michigan, Tuck, Cornell, Duke and UCLA.
I would like to apply for the admission of fall 2012. However, I really got no idea whether my profile can meet the requirements in the abovementioned Bschools. I really hope that some bschool mates here can give me some advice for my application.
Many thanks,
You are in the right place but I feel you need more experience to improve your chances of acceptance to these programs. In particular, I would like to see more leadership and influence in the investment bank and ideally you will be able to share some examples of influence extracurricularly as well. The good news is that your GMAT and GPA are solid, so you don't need to worry about them at all. You may want to retake the GMAT to boost the score and to further differentiate yourself from the many other finance applicants, but that isn't necessary.
