Profile Evaluation Request - part-time MBA [#permalink] New post 05 Aug 2011, 09:00
Personal information: Indian citizen awaiting USA PR, 31 Male

Work Experience: Over 7 years in software engineering/systems analyst/project manager roles. I have worked predominantly (60%) in the health care industry (2 major US pharma firms) with additional experience in the communications & software products domains. I have progressed from a software developer role to a development lead and now to project manager role( though my official title is a Sr systems Analyst)

GMAT: 710 (Q48,V39), awaiting AWA

Academics: MS in Computer Science from UAH (Alabama) with 3.2 GPA. Bachelors in engineering (computer science major) from Indian institution (University of Madras).

Certifications: PMP from PMI

Extra curricular activities: member of undergrad college soccer team, cultural secretary at the same place, news writer for college newspaper at grad school in the US.

Target programs:
NYU Stern, Kelley (Bloomington), Thunderbird, U of Nebraska Lincoln, Rutgers

I am employed full time and live in NJ. so i'm kind of constrained with regards to the choices. please let me know if there are any other schools i should look at. I was thinking about the online program at Manchester Business school.

post-MBA goal:
medium term, i would like to go up the corporate ladder in major global MNCs. Long term, i would probably look at entrepreunership. I'm not interested in finance industry jobs which i might be too old for anyway. but i'm thinking of specializing in finance or Global management to strive towards top level executive postions in global firms (Pharma comes to mind immediately, but frankly any domain).

Your insight will be much appreciated. thanks.

Stern will be a stretch, but where you have enough of a shot that it's at least worth applying. The other schools you should be able to get in without a problem. If you're limited by geography, then there's only so many schools out there to choose from -- in your case, it sounds like you have a list that could work, so it's just a matter of applying and hoping that you can get into a few.
