Profile evaluation request: Too bland? [#permalink] New post 25 Jan 2013, 06:46
Hi Linda - Would be great to get your thoughts on the below. I am worried that I am too "cookie cutter" and in a competitive pool. Any suggestions on ways to improve?

1) Private equity focused on Healthcare (3 years). Former McKinsey consultant (3 years).
2) 740 GMAT, 42/96% V, 48/78% M (this was my first take without much prep - should I retake?)
3) 3.9 GPA. Majored in Philosophy at a top 10 liberal arts college in the Northeast.
4) Founded model-UN club and chaired Filipino association at school. Serve as treasurer/executive board member of a LGBT volleyball association ($100K of operating funds). Play 6+ hours of volleyball a week, travel to 1 gay volleyball tournament a month (I am captain).
5) no certifications
6) Sloan, Columbia, Stanford, Wharton, Stern, HBS
7) I really just want the time to rethink my career path. I can see myself in PE, or back in consulting (I have an offer to return from McK).

Thanks!

This is not cookie-cutter. and if it is, it's a good way to be cookie cutter. You appear to be a member of an underrepresented group (LGBT). You have sought-after experience, stellar stats, and leadership. I think you are applying appropriately and don't recommend you retake the GMAT.

Best,
Linda
