Hi Paul,
Thank you for taking the time to evaluate my profile. Can you please tell me how competitive I am and how realistic my chances are for my target schools? Thank you!
Profile: Female, Hispanic/Latina
Age: 27
Education: Top 5 University (US News ranking), 3.75 GPA, International Relations major, minors in Economics and Latin American Studies
GMAT: 700 (44Q 70%, 41V 92%), AWA: 5.5
WE: 4.5 total. 3 years at well-regarded investment bank in Public Finance. 1.5 years in global business development for blue-chip media/entertainment company. Internships in college with U.S. govt (overseas position), major international NGO, and investment bank (M&A)
Extra-Curriculars: Currently coordinate all volunteer/charity activities for my 15-person business team (approximately 12 activities/year). Occasional volunteering on weekends through company-sponsored volunteering team. About to begin 8-month fellowship program geared towards young professionals of color. Little E/C during 3 years of banking. Started minority business club during college, helped coordinate various events for university and Latino community. Tutor & academic advisor in college.
Extras: 9 month gap in work experience--after completion of banking analyst program, I took an 8 month backpacking trip around the world, mainly in developing countries (Africa, Mid East, Asia, etc). Lived abroad in Costa Rica, Uruguay & Chile. Extensive travel to over 40 countries.
Why MBA/Career goals: Would like to further pursue career in international strategy/business development (similar to current field), possibly international operations for current company. Build/refine corporate finance skills (IB experience public finance only), gain exposure to other areas of business (marketing, operations), and build global management skills.
Weaknesses: Solid, but not outstanding GMAT, little leadership experience outside of coordinating team charity/volunteer activities.
Target schools: Stanford, Harvard, Wharton. I particularly like S/W because their extensive international programs
Others: Kellogg, Haas, (other suggestions???)
Backup: UCLA, (other suggestions???)
Thank you for reviewing my profile!
