Matt C: 25 (26@ matriculation)
Caucasian- US
GMAT 620: 39q 36v 5.5 AWA (not to make excuses but my appointment was scheduled to be canceled due to the AC being repaired but they were supposed to have fans running. It was at least 85 degrees in the building and the heat definitely impacted my performance)

Bachelor of Arts Economics: University of Nevada, Reno (3.11 GPA) I worked full-time during my undergraduate studies.

Work Experience:

1.25 years as an analyst with a web-publishing firm covering market news. Interviewed executives via podcasts and collaborated on editorial content.

.75 years as a loan officer with a small lender. Assessed borrower applications and recommended/structured loans

Career Goals:
Attain associate level position with an investment bank/ social finance organization

Extracurriculars:
Volunteer with THINK Together assisting kids with their homework
Captain intramural soccer team

Applying to Thunderbird, LMU, Katz, Graziado, Krannet, Rutgers, Eller

My question is whether I would have a better chance at the schools listed if I apply R1 with my current score or retake in the next 2 weeks to apply r2. Of course, I understand that this depends on what score I think I can get the second time around.

I was scoring in the 600-670 range on my Kaplan CATS.

Basically, I'm asking whether I have a realistic chance at the schools listed above with my current stats.

Thank you for any insight.

Matt,

Yes, with your current GMAT T-Bird, LUMI, Katz, Pepperdine, Rutgers, and Eller are all very doable for you. The fact that your profile is not a cookie-cutter one (has some interesting elements) helps you. Purdue is your only iffy school. Raising your GMAT score above 650 will alter the universe of schools you have a shot at. There's no significant difference between 1st and 2nd round, so take the time to give them your best app.
