Profile Evaluation Urgent [#permalink] New post 08 Oct 2012, 02:51
Hi There,

I took GMAT today and scored 620 ( Q49, V26). I know that this is a very low score.
But I want to apply for good US B Schools this year.

Briefly about me:
======================================================
1: 7 yrs of IT Work Experience ( 3 Years of team management experience)
2: Decent Extra Curriculars ( Painting and Singing
3: Good Amount of Community Service Involvement
4: 80% UnderGraduate Average
5: 93% 12th Average
6: Own a small family business
======================================================
What are my chances to get admissted to a good Bschool?
I want to apply to two agressive , 5 average and 4 back up colleges. Please suggest me the colleges.

Thanks,
Archana V

Archana,

I can't recommend schools without knowing what you want to do after your MBA.

Given your verbal score, your chances of acceptance at top 50 schools in the U.S. are very poor. I strongly urge you to work on that verbal component and bring it up. The quant is competitive.

Best,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the reply.
Should I take GMAT again and try applying school upon improving my GMAT score?
After Completion of MBA, I want to join a multi national company in top management. After ten years, I want to own a company.

Thanks,

Yes. I think you should improve your verbal skills and retake the GMAT. A higher verbal score will really improve your chances of acceptance, your chances of getting the kind of job you want, and your ability to benefit from your MBA program. And if you're going to take the time and spend the money, you want to get as much as possible out of it.

Please see Should You Retake the GMAT?
