Paul could you please review my profile

Current age 30
Gmat: 700 (has 2 repeats)

a Bachelor of Engineering degree from a reputed University in India.

More than eight years experience one of the top five IT companies in the world. Currently working as Project Manager. Strong analytical skills coupled with good leadership qualities. I am an avid reader and is actively involved in investing. My hobby is to invest in small budding companies in stock market.

Why MBA and why now
My carrer has been very progressive and I have got promoted every other year. I am at a juncture where I am excelling in my current job, which is technology consulting. My present job has given me right foundation in terms of leadership and managerial skills, business, technical and domain knowledge to move to next.
From technology consulting to business consulting.

My schools of choice are (in order of preference)
Chicago
Columbia
Wharton
Michigan Ross
NYU
Tuck
Cornell

Do I have a chance with these schools?

Mahesh004,

Based on the limited info you gave me I would say your chances at CBS, Wharton, and Tuck are slim, primarily because these schools can afford to sift through reams of qualified applications to find the most unusual profiles and, unfortunately, yours is a quite common one. If reading and investing are your major extracurriculars your competitiveness at the top schools will be seriously impaired. Also, your age will hurt your chances at many of the top schools.

Your odds are somewhat better at Chicago and Stern and better still at Michigan and Cornell.

I hope this helps,
