Hi! I just stumbled upon this forum and saw the amazing work that you guys have been doing for the student community. Cheers!! I would be glad if you could evaluate my profile and give some insights for strengthening my applications.

GMAT: 750 (Q 50, V 40)
Female, 25 years, Indian, Engineer (Electronics & Communication)

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Technology, 2009- GPA 3.48 (from West Bengal University of Technology)
High School, 2005 - 92.4% (CBSE board)

WORK EXPERIENCE: 40 months, Education Sector

Company Name-- Erudite Educational Center Pvt. Ltd.(October, 2009 to February, 2013)
Company Domain-- Training students for management entrance exams (GMAT, CAT etc), and government recruitment exams (Bank PO, Railways etc)
Designation-- HOD for Maths, Product manager for CAT

Key Responsibilities--
Developing new product lines (I lead a team of 10 people to develop a new product line for the entrance exam, MAT, which led to a 20% increase in the company revenue within the first year of launch)
Conducting seminars, workshops and quizzes across the state of West Bengal (I have conducted seminars on aptitude and personality development for students of IIT Kharagpur, IIM Calcutta and several others. I also designed a unique quiz that tests the logical reasoning skills of participants and I have quizzed over a thousand students at popular events in several college cultural festivals)
Teaching quantitative aptitude to classroom students (I have taught and mentored over 500 students, successfully helping to boost the ability levels and scores of the majority of them)
Distinguishing Points--
I was one of the youngest instructors, across the nation, to be successful in this sector.
During my three year stint with the company, i got promoted twice - ahead of several peers senior to me.

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS

-Received certificate of merit from CBSE for being among top 0.1% of the successful candidates (over 500,000) in Science (99%).
-Received All India Rank 46 in the 7th National Science Olympiad, 2005.
-Scored 99.56 %lie in CAT 2008, an exam taken by over 250,000 candidates.

VOLUNTARY SOCIAL WORK

I did voluntary social work for Art Of Living Foundation, that involved teaching under-priviledged children living in the slums of Kolkata.
I actively participated in community service with Lions Club, Kolkata.

COLLEGES that i am applying to (R1, for FALL, 2014)--
1) USC, Marshall
2) UCLA, Anderson
3) DUKE, Fuqua
4) UNC, Kenan Flagler
5) STANFORD, GSB

Out of these five, USC Marshall and UCLA Anderson are my primary targets because my husband is working in LA.

SPECIFIC QUESTIONS TO YOU
-Your thoughts on my overall profile?
-Specific tips wrt USC and UCLA?
-I feel my work experience is not very strong because the company I worked for is very small and in the education sector. Your take on this?
-I have not yet decided as to what my post-MBA goals in my application should be. I have an inclination towards finance and consulting though. How can I make my goals seem synchronous with my work experience?

Any help and guidance that you can provide will be much appreciated!

You have a competitive profile for your target programs with Stanford being more of a stretch, because it's Stanford. USC and UCLA would be good fits for you.

The size of your company is an opportunity, because you probably were able to assume more responsibility than if you had gone to a larger, more structured firm, and a challenge: you need to work harder to educate the reader about your responsibilities and achievements. I'm confident you can do it. While not exactly onpoint, much of this point is relevant to your situation: http://blog.accepted.com/2013/08/13/7-t ... businesse/ .

Regarding your goals, please see MBA Goals 101.

Best,
Linda
