Age: 27 at matriculation
Work Experience: Currently at a large cap mezzanine debt investing fund and will be 2 yrs when I matriculate. For the 2 years prior, I've been at a bulge bracket investment bank.

GMAT: 730 (50Q / 40V)

College: UCLA - 3.7 Biz/Econ GPA, 3.6 Cumulative GPA.

Extra-Curricular: On the board of a non-profit, also volunteer with a social enterprise. Previously volunteered for a child mentoring program during i-banking days. Part of StartingBloc (program focused on social innovators). Also have been actively doing jiu jitsu (5+ yrs) as well as soccer (10+ yrs)

Targets: Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Columbia and Booth.

Timeframe: 2013-2014

Post MBA Goal: Go into impact investing / build a fund that focuses on the triple bottom line.

My post MBA goal is genuine and sincere, I'm just not sure how I stack up esp. against others that directly have impact investing exp abroad and/or exp with the World Bank/IFC etc. I really don't want to come off as disingenuous, I guess I'm more curious as to how often do you see an application like this? Is it pretty common nowadays?

Hi bigmonkey31,

Thanks for posting. Congratulations on your excellent GMAT score. Your numbers indicate that you have the intellect and focus to thrive in a top tier MBA program. Nothing about your story makes me think there is any reason why you cannot be admitted, but nothing stands out telling me why you should be admitted. All of the reasons why a top program would admit you are in the details of your work experience, personal experiences, personality, values and overall story.

I have below free school specific advice for the programs you are considering:
