Project Analyst or Team Leader Operations ? [#permalink] New post 12 Jul 2013, 10:16
Hi

I am an Indian working as an IT System Analyst with 4 yrs of work ex .
I have two job offers with me , one as a Project Analyst and the other as Team Leader Operations .

The Project Analyst will work in the Project Management dept of the IT division and work along the Project Manager in implementing the IT projects . These projects will follow the waterfall model of SDLC .

The Team Leader Operations will lead a small team which will work extensively on the User Acceptance Testing of Software Implementations .

The Project Analyst will not lead a team , but will have much more exposure in Managing the projects from the initiating to closing phase , while the Team Leader operations will lead a team but will only work in Quality and the project closing sections .

Now i am confused , and not sure which one to join .

I intend to do my MBA in General Management and Strategy . I am not sure which profile will help me out more . Can anyone help me out on this ... ?

Thanks!

Hey man,
It's a wee bit hard to say without knowing more about the positions and your past experience, but my first thought is: take whichever JOB is better. Meaning whichever appeals to you most for it's own reasons (leaving aside the MBA). It is true that leadership is the most highly prized of MBA qualities so you can consider that, but whatever you take it IS good, and I think that it won't make all that much of a difference one way or another to your chances. What is more important is that whatever you DO ultimately choose, should be the post where you can succeed more at, and move up quicker with.

Hope this helps you out, dude!
