A cylinder tank with radius of the base 1 and height 2 is half full of water. If all the water is poured into another cylinder tank with height 1 and radius of the base 2, to what percent of its capacity will this new tank be filled?

Volume of a cylinder= $$\pi*r^2*h$$

Volume of a cylinder 1= $$\pi*(1)^2*2=2 \pi$$. Since the tank is half filled, Volume of water=$$\frac{2 \pi}{2}=\pi$$
Volume of a cylinder 2= $$\pi*(2)^2*1=4 \pi$$

% of water in 2= [(Volume of water)/(Volume of a cylinder 2)]*100

% of water in 2 $$=\frac{\pi}{4 \pi}*100=25%$$

Ans: "B"

vol of cylinder1 = $$\pi*r^2h = 2\pi$$
vol of cylinder2 = $$\pi*r^2h = 4\pi$$

vol of cyl2 is twice that of cyl1. so if cyl1 is 1/2 filled then cyl2 must be $$\frac{1}{4}$$ filled i.e. 25%

Vol. of cylinder =\pi*r^2*h

V is proportional to height and square of radius

v1/v2=1/2

Hence 25%

volume of cylinder1 should half of cylinder2 by using the formula. thus half of cylinder 1 should be 1/4 of cylinder2.

Volume of the cylinder with radius 1 and radius 2 is: (22/7)*1*2=2*(22/7)... half filled cylinder then the voulme is (22/7)
Volume of the cylinder with radius 2 and height 1 is: (22/7)*4*1=4*(22/7)...

so the answer is 25%. B
