If (x-1) ^ 2 = 400, which if the following could be the value of x-5?

Don't know why I got this wrong...anyone have an explanation?

I get x-5 = 16 or -24

Taking square root on both sides
x-1 = +20 or -20
So, x = 21 or -19
=> x-5 = 16 or -24
