Psychological Marketing or Quantitative Marketing? [#permalink]
05 Nov 2010, 03:32
Hi,
I am looking for a PhD in Business in some middle-ranking universities in the US (Top 30-50). I intend to choose Marketing as my major. I have an undergraduate degree in International Economics in a South East Asian country and a Master degree in Economics in Japan.
As far as I know, Marketing is often divided into psychological marketing (ex: consumer behavior) and quantitative marketing (ex: marketing models). I am really interested in psychological marketing; however, I do not have any experience or have not taken any course in the psychological field. Being a housewife mainly staying at home now, I find it difficult to take any course in Psychology to prepare for my application. Meanwhile, with my background in Economics, I think that I have some advantage in quantitative marketing; however, I am not really interested in quantitative marketing. I am really confused which area of Marketing I should choose. Do universities require us to choose between these two areas?
Could you guys please give me some advice? Thanks in advance.
