PT MBA - finding an internship outside of the school. [#permalink] New post 16 Sep 2013, 10:06
I realize that a PT MBA is traditionally there for the person who would like to stay in their current function/industry, but move up the ladder. And the FT program is there for the career switcher who would need an internship to help facilitate that transition.

However, I have read of some PT MBA students obtaining internships outside of their school (therefore quitting their current work), and I would like to hear if anyone knows or has heard of people doing the same? Or, if anyone has an input on how one could go about finding an internship on their own?

I realize that networking with current FT/PT students and reaching out to companies on your own is most certainty the bulk of the work, but I'm interested in seeing if any other ways are known - or just to hear some success stories. :-D

I ask this because I'm looking to do Booth, Ross, or Kellogg PT and would like to make a functional switch. A FT program isn't really an option for me nor do I think I could get into any of their FT programs; but I do think I have a shot getting into their PT programs.

Thanks! I look forward to your input!
