D is my choice

All choices that have it should not be considered.

Out of remaining choices, C and D, D is better because we need an area greater than.

C is little awkward.

I think A is the right choice "D" sounds very verbose to me

Why should we eliminate choices with it?


"It" seems to indicate that "the same exact earthquake" is occurring in east and west. It is the not the same earthquake but any quake of compareable magnitude.
