Here subject is Quality of pieces not pieces themselve therefore A & C are gone. Between B, D & E, E is the only one comparing quality of pieces while B is comparing pieces and D is comparing places.

with regard to is correct phrase and in E its used correctly than with regard X to ..

E is my choice.

Ill go with D. "far surpasses" seems correct. The second part "with regard to not only......................but also". Sounds best to me.

why in option D, word 'pieces' taken out? any reason behind this?

This one is wierd. A has proper ||ism w/ the idiom, but we are comparing quality.

I dunno btwn A and E on this one.
