Iam not questioning the answer but I am not sure why "economy" here can take the Plural form??

I chose E,

here we are comparing dutch economy to 3 different ones (of three different countries) hence economies.

I agree with gmatmba.
Sometimes we ignore the non-underlined part of the sentence (especially the part after the underline) and that is a BIG BIG mistake.

agreed. need economies because all three countries cannot have onbe economy therefore needs economies. so E.

it is same as monies ... economy ---economies...
I don't know what is the rule to be followed..
as money and economy are by themselves in their plural form..
