Quality Verbal CAT's [#permalink] New post 22 Jul 2012, 12:13
After attempting GMATPrep, MGMAT and GMATClub Quant tests, i found that GMATClub Quant tests are very close to the official Prep CAT's.
The GMATClub Quant tests test the subtle info, tricks traps like official GMAtPrep software.

GMATClub Verbal tests are not that good :-(

I didn't quite like the MGMAT tests but they are the closest in terms of scoring algorithm so have to live with them.

Do we have any CAT's which are very similar to GMAT in terms of testing the verbal concepts?
I am looking for this type of tests even if it is not close to official scoring algo.

I am two weeks away from my D-day and planning to give 3-4 more test before the real exam.

As of now i have planned to give following tests:

MGMAT CAT 3 29th July
MGMAT CAT 4 1st Aug
GMATPrep2 4th Aug
MGMAT CAT 5 6th Aug

Hey bgs, you're absolutely right - there's no substitute for questions written by the authors of the real GMAT. Since you're out of GMATPrep tests, and since you've taken quite a few CATs already, I would recommend simply working out of the Official Guide. You won't get the test simulation practice, but it looks like you don't really need that anyway - you just need to study verbal nuances that may appear on your real GMAT. I think OG13 is your best source for this.

I would reduce it - I would take only one MGMAT CAT before your real test and use the rest of your time to study strategies. (Save that last GMATPrep CAT in case your real GMAT does not go well.) It's pointless to take a CAT every 3 days - you don't learn anything from CAT's! They're mainly just diagnostics.

The thing with the Verbal is that after 1 hour of essay + IR , 75 mins of Quant, and 20 mins of Verbal, the brain starts to operate at 50%of its efficiency. When solving the same questions one at a time, they appear pretty easy.
