Hi,

The question asks about the number of cups of pasta used by Malik when he prepares the dish next time.

Using (1);
We don't know how many servings he used last time.
supposedly, last time he used 8 servings, this time he will use 4 servings or 1 1/2 cups pasta.
but he used 4 servings last time, this time he will use 2 servings & so on. Insufficient.

Using (2);
This statement only tells us about the servings used by him last time. We don't know how many he is going to use. Insufficient.

Using both,
Last time: 6 servings.
This time: 3 servings or (3/4)*(3/2)cups pasta. Sufficient.

Answer is (C)

Regards,
