Query regarding min time for GMAT prep [#permalink] New post 07 Feb 2012, 07:48
Hey there,

I am starting with the GMAT (Feb, 2012) and plan to take it (Apr, 2012). Owing to a job which includes excess international travel, i just wanted to know 2 basic stuff from the experienced lot out here:

a. Is 10 weeks enough for a preparation (lets say from scratch) to be able to get a 740+ score?
b. I have strong Quant skills but although am a native english speaker i work in a geography where the language is different than english (read Not China), therefore my English has gotten a bit rusty offlate? (Any tips for improving the grammar)!

If you can study consistently and with a smart, focused plan, 10 weeks is definitely enough time to get a really high score. It's up to you to make sure you can study that way, but it's definitely doable.

Have you taken a practice test? I think if you score in the 600 range you may be able to do it with consistent study. I usually put in 1 hr during lunch and then if I am not wiped out 2 hours more after work followed by 8-10 hours each day of the weekend. Going into my third month... feeling a bit burned out but I am seeing a lot of improvement. So it is doable if you put in the time. I read somewhere that most 700 scores require 120 hours of study.

Hey thanks again. Good to know your strat. I try to put in 2 hrs at night when i am back in the hotel and pressing to get up early morning to do another hour with examples/ short tests. I have scored 650 on Prep test (q49, v28). Hopefully things will turn out better in the next months.
