actually, just 2-3 years ago, many schools DIDN'T interview everyone they admitted. Only recently did most schools change their policies to "must interview to get admitted".

Some schools give waivers if you live in a very out of the way spot. If you live in Siberia then you may get in without interviewing. Live in a big city and you are going to have to interview.

Everything was better 2-3 years ago.

1. Cornell's average gmat was 656.

2. University of Chicago... who.. wha....you mean Kellogg?

3. Yale admitted 200+ applicants.

4. ETS gave real scratch paper for the GMAT.

and the list goes on.

and from what I've seen on BW stats, many schools had 25-30% acceptance rates, Haas was nearing 20%, and Stanford had a whopping 14%! gasp!

When we were young, grass was more green and snow was more white, there was peace in all the world except small kitchen conflicts :) The world keeps changing and all we have to do is to take it as it is and use changes to our best.

the good news is, most curriculum at schools are probably more reflective of real world business now than 2-3 years ago. :)

Just to explain my reaction - in Siberia I believe there are at least 3 cities with population over 1.000.000 ppl, and a dozen more with 500.000+ ppl  There are phones, too :-D

Does that mean that I could have chances with Tuck without interview? :)))) Rather, I would say that we have unlimited Internet access and unlimited cell phone tariff plans, so, Siberia is not that far from civilization :)

The number of inhabitants is even less important than oil & gas cities that are incredibly European by quality of life with population of 250.000 - 500.000 ppl.
