Question for applicants from Mumbai University (Undergrad) [#permalink] New post 04 Dec 2012, 23:04
Hi,
I graduated from Mumbai University with a "First Class" (BE)

However, I had a KT in the first semester and consequently a "Pass Class" in my first year.

I did not fail the year or was placed on probation or dismissed or anything like that.
Should I still explain the KT/ Pass Class? What do you think?

Thanks!

Yes, explain what happened. Since it was during your first year of school, most admissions officers will be somewhat lenient as they will assume that you might have had some adjustment issues to university. Also, when you explain, be brief as the last thing that admissions wants to read is a long apology of detailed explanation of everything that happened in your life.

Thanks Kimberly!

I'm asking is because it's different from failing an entire class and repeating the whole class again.

Thanks!

All top programs understand the grading systems at all schools -- and you are not the first person to be applying from Mumbai with this issue. Just write a short, one paragraph explanation of the situation. Also state that this happened when you were young and that your grades and performance improved significantly over the course of your demanding academic program. Do not re-write the school's policy or go into details of what happened.
