I believe I read it on one of these forums (so not totally credible). But I can verify that from my own experience of taking the GMATPrep tests ~3-4 times over the course of my studying last year.

The quant portion of the GMATPrep has around 700 questions in the database that the test draws from. And yes they are of all difficulty. I am assuming that the verbal portion has a similar size but I cannot confirm that.
