Is it that doing questions from OG, GMAT Verbal and GMAT Quantitative books are ill advised before taking the GMATPrep CAT? What is the exact reasoning behind this? I believe I understand the explanation that one does not want his or her scores to be inflated. However if being familiar with actual GMAT style questions has the advantage of improving your score - how is that bad? Or, is it that some of the same questions are on the GMATPrep CAT? What about the paper tests before the CAT? Any info on this would be appreciated.

I generally would suggest you do one after the OG11 Diagnostic test, just to see where your weaknesses are and what you need to improve upon. Then take the 2nd one near the end to see how far you progressed.

Unfortunately, if you do the OG11, Verbal/Quant Review, and PowerPrep CATs, you'll see overlap questions in the 2nd GMATPrep. Not many, but they'll be there... nothing you can really do about it. It's all just an INDICATOR of your final score, so maybe it doesn't really matter...
