Questions to ask Consultant [#permalink] New post 01 Sep 2011, 13:24
I am considering getting the assistance of an Admission Consultant and will be speaking with several next week.

I am wondering the types of general questions people have asked during the free consultation.

The questions I will be asking are:

1) What is the acceptance rate of your clients?
2) How are you different from other consultants?
3) Will I be working with the same consultant throughout the process?

What else should I ask? Thanks!

Good questions!
Also ask about your school choice, your overall strategy, and how the work process is done.

I would also suggest that you ask the admissions consultants you interview for some high-level feedback about your profile in relation to the schools on your target list and whether he or she feels that your expectations realistic. You want to be on the same wavelength with your consultant regarding school selection to avoid surprises later in the process. You don't need to decide on the final list of schools on an introductory call, but you do want to ensure agreement on whether the consultant feels that the schools you plan to apply to are a good fit with your profile.

Because you are considering working with an admissions consultant you might be interested in a blog post I wrote on that topic entitled: "Should I hire an MBA admissions consultant or not?"

P.S. There is a very thorough discussion thread in which GMAT Club members review MBA admissions consultants. It also includes the questions that prospective clients have asked admissions consultants in the introductory calls. Here is a link to the thread:
