I'd like to preface this by saying that I don't know if this is the correct place for this question.
Anyways, I just took a KAPLAN
CAT exam and I'm running through my mistakes.....many many mistakes...but I want to bounce this off of you guys.
A circular pool is surrounded by a circular walkway, and both the circular swimming pool and the entire circular region have the same center. If the radius of the swimming pool is 10 meters and the width of the walkway is 5 meters, how much greater than the surface area of the swimming pool is the area of the walkway.
Now this is a pretty basic question, I know how to go about solving it. However, the wording of this question tripped me up.
The question is asking for:
area of walkway - Surface area of swimming pool
The answer they explain is
area of the walkway - area of the swimming pool
In my thought process I was able to limit my answer choices down to 2 answers, but I didn't know (or what i thought i should know for the question) the formula for the surface area of a sphere so I guessed. To me, it seems this questions is misleading. Do you guys agree with me or was this a trap to test me on concepts of a circle vs a sphere?
