Vodka seems like a bit of an odd choice to me frankly, but if you go this route, I'd suggest belvedere.

You could find more $, but belvedere is good, and if they drink vodka, they'd know the name and know it's a quality bottle.

Great topic. When do you all plan to give your recommender your gift? After they submitted all the recs? After you got in somewhere? Or both?

I figure I could do it now that my apps are done - but if I'm rejected by HBS, Kellogg and Chicago - my plan is to re-apply to Kellogg and Chicago on a part time basis. In which case, I need them to help one more time. Fortunately, I imagine they can submit very similar recs - the only critical difference being that I need one from my current manager for part time.
With that in mind, I'm planning on dishing out gifts after my acceptances - not before.

Yeah I am with you on this - you send it when the work is done and you are hearing from schools - not before.
