Yes, I also find out that creating mindmaps is particulary useful for grasping main idea and purpose questions.
As for me, the technique of taking brief notes works well for most RC passages exclude Kaplan 800 RC passages. They are extremely long and complicated while they have only 3 questions attached to it. So for this type of RC passages creating sketch takes too much time and it doesn't worth the effort. So I started to only read the 1st sentences of each paragraph and to use the technique of skimming for answering questions. And the percentage of right answers increased!


Try this one, read the first paragraph and last paragraph completely, and read the first sentence of every other paragraph, this may help you get more better idea, just try out, and follow what best suits you. good luck, hope to hear from you, how it goes.
