Really Dissappointed [#permalink] New post 03 Dec 2012, 18:04
Hi Everyone!

I took the GMAT on August after 2 months of study with a really dissappointing score, 560, Q37,V27. Anyway, I didn't study much as I wished, and I had tons of work which was hard for me to compaginate.

Today, after other 2 months of hard study, i took the exam again and I crashed, I have scored a 580,Q39,V28. My prep tests were around 47-50 in Quant, putting wrong all answers I had previously marked as wrong. I ws doing around 33 in Verbal. I cannot understand my drop in Quant....

By the way, I have stomach problems which bring me shortness of breath and makes me difficulty to concentrate. Today I had horrble stomach attacks, it was horrible...

Any ideas how can I improve? How to tackle this? My 10 points drop in Quant? How to improve verbal? English is not my native language.

Thanks everyone!

Dear am85,
I'm happy to help.

First of all, on the difference between practice performance and exam performance --- make sure your practice simulates exam conditions as much as possible. In particular, always practice against strict time limits. See:
http://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/pacing-and ... -the-gmat/

I'm very sorry to hear about your stomach problems. From my own experience with other health issues, I would attest to the power of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture. I don't know whether that's readily available for you.

I'd like to recommend Magoosh test prep. Since you have already taking real GMATs, you would qualify for our score guarantee.
http://gmat.magoosh.com/score-guarantee
We have 200+ video lessons covering all the content and strategies you will need, including a long section on grammar needed for the Verbal section. Strategies we cover in the math video could help you pick up points on that side also.
Here's a practice SC question:
http://gmat.magoosh.com/questions/1084
Here's a practice RC question:
http://gmat.magoosh.com/questions/751
For each one of those, when you submit your answer, the following page will have a complete video explanation. Each one of our 800+ GMAT practice questions has its own video explanation.

If nothing else, take advantage of that free blog and all the information there.

I hope all this helps.

Mike :-)

Get yourself treated and have faith in yourself and in Almighty. Gather all the hope, intent to get successful and then restart your preparations with a new dimension to your method to study.

Try to work on full time practice tests. The more you practice, better are your chances of a good score.
Also make sure to work upon the ones you get wrong.
Lastly, in the initial part of the Quant section, try to give more time to first 10 Qs and get them correct.
