the key to securing a readmission is to convince the committee that the past year has "fixed" any problems they had with your application. Did you get any feedback from Owen regarding your application last year? Sometimes schools will give you hints as to where you fell short. They will appreciate the fact that you want to go to school with your husband, but that will likely not influence their admission decision (but I guess it could if it's presented well in the essays). What may be compelling is to mention your admission to GW and the fact that you turned it down to try again at Vandy. This kind of loyalty may go a long way. Of course, achievements at work or any challenging projects you have had to handle since applying last will need to be written up in a complelling way. LEt us know if you need help--sounds like you could benefit from some consulting this time around.
