Recommendation question [#permalink] New post 29 Dec 2004, 07:31
Hi,

My recommender has used plain papers to answer the questions schools have asked in the recommendation letters. Does he have to use salutations on those papers? If so what would be appropriate salutation?

Does he also have to sign those papers? He will definitely sign on the scholls recommendation forms but not sure whether he needs to sign the papaers he wrote on. (especcially when the letter contains questions and answers.)

Thanks for your help

"To Whom It May Concern" is a common opening that is considered acceptable. Also, "To the _____ Admissions Committee" (fill in the school) is acceptable. I'd recommend using some sort of salutation.

I also recommend having him sign the letters, as he would a normal business letter.
